FS2 Autumn Term

The children have been learning about the world with themselves at the centre. We have made beautiful self-portraits and got to know our class through Circle Times and play. We have talked a lot about the similarities and differences between us all and how they should be celebrated. We have read The Colour Monster as one of our key texts where we learned about different emotions which are reflected in different coloured monsters.

Our second enquiry was “Why do we have fireworks?” where we explored different reasons people celebrate around the world. We looked at many different festivals and special days that fell over November and December. We learnt about Bonfire Night, Diwali, Remembrance Day and Christmas and learned the word “respect”. We then explored what we see in the dark – nocturnal animals and    natural and electric light. We made paper plate foxes and star Christmas decorations.
