This half term in FS1 we have been exploring the jungle using our key text ‘Walking through the jungle’ by Julie Lacome. We have been looking at different animals and learning facts about them. We have been developing our creativity skills by turning our classroom into a jungle making our very own large-scale giraffe, monkey and snakes. We did observational paintings of some of our favourite jungle animals, looking closely at creating patterns using our marks. We have been learning to move our bodies in different ways just like the animals and we also learnt a jungle dance. In maths we have looked at patterns and sequences as well as learning lots of jungle themed number songs. To extend our learning further we went on an educational visit to The Tropical Butterfly House. We got up close and personal with lots of animals including snakes, crocodiles and parrots. We also had the opportunity to hold some minibeasts. We have been developing our mark making and writing skills by learning new letter sounds and learning what sound our name starts with too.
