The Nursery Curriculum
In our nursery classes, children learn through a play-based curriculum. Throughout the sessions they are supported to develop key skills that will lay the foundations for future learning in reading, writing and maths.
Learning at Home
The best way for your child to learn at home is for you to talk, play and read with them. The nursery staff will provide tips and ideas to help you support your child at home. The nursery also has a home library, families are encouraged to use the library and borrow books to share at home.
FS2 — Starting school at Bankwood
In our FS2 classes, children learn through a balance of taught key skills and a play-based creative curriculum. Throughout the day children will be taught literacy, maths and phonics as well as having opportunities to develop their own learning both inside and outdoors.
The school day
Our breakfast café is open for you to come and enjoy breakfast and a game before school starts (all children must be accompanied by an adult).
The school day begins. Children enter through the pupil entrance on the KS1 corridor. For the first 10 minutes of each session, parents are encouraged to come into school with their child
and choose a learning activity to do together. Parents are not permitted into school after 8:50am.
School finishes. Children need to be collected promptly from the external classroom doors.
Learning at home
For all our children, we believe that a close partnership between home and school is essential to ensure the best education for your child. There will be a reading book and key words to learn, as well as a ‘home learning’ project linked to the school topic every term. We also love to hear about other learning children have been up to at home to add to their learning journey at school!EYFS Curriculum Overview
